Nyerere National Park

Nyerere National Park, established in 2019 and named after Tanzania’s founding father, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, is the largest national park in Africa, covering over 30,000 square kilometers. As part of the historic Selous Game Reserve, it is one of the world’s largest and most ecologically diverse wildlife sanctuaries, home to abundant wildlife including elephants, buffalo, lions, and the endangered African wild dog. The park features the majestic Rufiji River, a popular destination known for its hippos and crocodiles.
